Player, Parent, Spectator, Coaching (Behavior) Policy for Novato Youth Soccer Association

Novato Youth Soccer Association is comprised of over 1350 youth soccer players and hundreds of volunteers, interested in providing a positive and enjoyable educational environment for our players, families, coaches, and referees. The Novato Youth Soccer Association Board of Directors shall reserve the right to suspend any player, parent, spectator, coach, team assistant, or other related team associate, for actions that the Board of Directors finds to be detrimental to an opposing player, parent, spectator, coach, or referee. The Novato Youth Soccer Association Board of Directors shall reserve the right to ban any player, parent, spectator, coach, team assistant, or other related team associate, for actions that the Board of Directors finds to be excessively detrimental to an opposing player, parent, spectator, coach, or referee.

General Policy

I.All participants involved in any NYSA event, shall act in a professional manner, respecting their competitors, the officials, and any other league staff.

II.All participants shall refrain from using crude, vulgar, or abusive language, under any circumstance, and or directed at any competitor, official, spectator, and or other league staff.

III.All participants shall refrain from grabbing, striking, or other in an aggressive manner, their competitor, the officials, spectator, and other league staff.

IV.The NYSA Board of Directors reserves the right to make a determination on other acts of verbal or physical abuse not mentioned in this General Policy, based on incidents that have not yet occurred.

Violation of Policy; Determinations of Suspension, Bans

I.In the event that a player, coach, parent or spectator, acts in a manner that is found by the Board of Directors to be abusive either verbally or physically, the NYSA Board of Directors reserves the right to suspend or ban that person from any NYSA event, training, practice, or game.

II.Players, Coaches, Parents, or Spectators, found to be in violation of this policy shall be suspended for a minimum of two weeks from the date of the incident, from participating in any activity with their team.

III.The NYSA Board of Directors, in accordance with its formal Grievance Policy may allow suspended, or banned persons, the opportunity to file a request for hearing with the NYSA Board of Directors.

IV.The NYSA Board of Directors reserves the right to seek the advice of legal counsel on all verbal or physical incidents involving players, parents, spectators, officials, or other persons participating in a game, or at an event related to Novato Youth Soccer Association.

V.The NYSA Board of Directors reserves the right to request information obtained by the local police or sheriff based on what is permissible by law within the State of California.

VI.The NYSA Board of Directors reserves the right to make a determination including the suspension or ban of a person, on other acts of verbal or physical abuse not mentioned in this Violation of Policy, based on incidents that have not yet occurred.
