U19 Girls Win MISA Championship
The U19 HS Girls Novato Cobras finished their season undefeated with a Championship win over Mill Valley, 3-2 in PK’s. After falling behind 2-1 with only 10 minutes remaining, The Cobras had to reach deep to find the strength of character required for a come back, and did they find it! After a perfectly kicked corner, the Cobras scored with a magnificent header to tie the game 2-2, and then closed the deal on penalty kicks.
This is the second year in a row that the Novato Cobras, led by Coaches Marc Bitbol and Jonathan Aaronson, win the Marin Inter-league tournament in the U19 HS Girls division. Congratulations Cobras!!
NYSA Player Invited to US Soccer Training Center
Novato United U12 boys player Jacob Kennedy is off to the U.S. Soccer Training Center in November. In the words of our Director of Coaching, Erik Visser, "It is very prestigious to be selected. U.S. Soccer Training Centers are National Youth Team try-outs, staffed by U.S. National staff coaches. Players are invited through the scouting network. The top players will be selected from these training centers to the U.S. Youth National teams. Jacob’s age group eventually will culminate in a U14 National Team, which is the youngest National Team age group."
Congratulations Jacob, and good luck!
Airbenders Win at 2011 Novato City Tournament
The U10 Airbenders won our Novato City Tournament for the 2nd year in a row, with 3 players from last year’s team returning. The Airbenders defeated the Shooting Stars in the championship game in a very well played game by both teams, scoring 2 - 1 with Noah scoring the deciding goal, Griffin’s eager energetic play at goalie and Shaun anchoring the defense with a MVP performance.
Six of the Airbenders were invited to play for either the U10 or U9 all star teams. More details here.
